A Visit of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Australia to Quang Ninh RDPR

On April 5, 2012, Mr Allaster Cox - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Australia visited the project of Quang Ninh Rural Development and Poverty Reduction Fund (RDPR).He went to RDPR’s office and had a talk with Mr. Pham Mau Tai – RDPR’s director about the organization’s activities and the result of the project "Providing rehabilitation equipment for disabilities children" sponsored by the Australian Embassy and carried out by RDPR at Hien Ninh Rehabilitation for Disabilities Children Center from October 2009.
The ambassador also directly dropped in the center. The centre is located Hien Ninh Commune, where 35-40 children daily are being taken to practice by their family. The ambassador asked the staffs about their work and their life, met the disabilities children training devices supported by the project. He expressed his satisfaction with the results of the projects when directly witnessing the benefits and effectiveness of these devices in the exercise of the disabled children. They helped the disable children recovery of motor function and integrate into the community soon. The director of the Center reported that the number of disabled children to practice at the center increased significantly, from the beginning only 10 to 15, after providing additional equipment, to 35-40 children. There are about 380 disabilities children per month in this centre.
 
 The ambassador also visited Gia Ninh Commune Health Stations. The Station is also provided some medical equipment by the Australian Embassy. The ambassador spoke with the Gia Ninh chairman, the chief, nurses and doctors of the station. He asked about the medical situation of the station after receiving the new equipment so far. As reported by the chief, the station services are much better thanks to the medical devices.

In general, the ambassador appreciates the effectiveness of projects implemented by RDPR in Quang Ninh. On behalf of the Australian Embassy, the ambassador Allaster agreed that in the future through RDPR the Australian Embassy will have more activities at Quang Ninh Commune to support and contribute to improving the life of the community, particularly with the poor and other disadvantaged groups.
