Community consultation on the revised Land Law in Quang Binh province

In order to collecting experience and expectation of community on the Land Law and deliver them to policy-makers, the Institute for Legislative Research of the National Assembly Standing Committee coordinated to Oxfam and some social and political organizations and NGOs to conduct the community consultation Programme on the Draft revised Land Law 2003. The activities are conducted in five provinces including Quang Binh, Yen Bai, Hoa Binh, An Giang and Long An from November 2012.
In Quang Binh province, Rural Development and Poverty Reduction Fund (RDPR) and The centre for Indigenous Knowledge Research and Development (CIRD) in collaboration with the Provincial Congressional Delegation of Quang Binh conducted the consultation in 3 districts of Quang Binh province including Quang Ninh, Tuyen Hoa and Bo Trach district.
The programme include main activities such as interviewing relevant leaders and officers of departments at provincial, district and communal level as well as forestry enterprises; holding meetings to collect ideas of villagers; holding meeting at communal level with the participation of communal authorities and representives of villagers.
After these activities, a provincial workshop was hold in Dong Hoi city on January 25th 2013. It is aimed at reporting on the result of the consultation in Quang Binh, and get more comments and suggestion of authorities and communities on this report. At the workshop, the representatives of villagers also have opportunity to express their opinion and expectation to leaders of authorities and departments.
All results of the consultation in Quang Binh is collected in a final report. The report in Quang Binh province and the reports of other provinces will be synthesized into one reports to deliver to policy-maker agencies such as Ministry of Resource and Environment Ministry and National Assembly on February and March 2013. This report will contribute more information for these agencies to complete the Official Land Law in coming time.
