The workshop Solutions to enhance the participation of community in getting ready to implement REDD Plus in Quang Binh province

On January 2013, Quang Binh was selected for piloting the project “ Supporting for getting ready to implement REDD Plus in Vietnam” funded by Forest Carbon Partnership Facility (FCPF) of World Bank.
To raising the participation of people in getting ready for REDD Plus in Quang Binh province, Rural Development and Poverty Reduction Fund (RDPR) has conducted the project “ Enhancing the participation of people in REDD+ and forest policy” funded by Towards Transparency (TT).
The workshop
The workshop focused on : Introducing about REDD+ and roles of stakeholders in conducting REDD+; sharing experiences on the participation of the people in monitoring of forest policy; and discussing about solutions to enhance people's participation in REDD + and forest policy.

The workshop
Within the project, in collaboration with Quang Ninh DPC, RDPR organized the workshop “ Solutions to enhance the participation of community in getting ready to implement REDD Plus in Quang Binh province” . The chairs of the workshop are Mr Pham Mau Tai- the director of RDPR, and Mr Nguyen Ngoc Thu- the Vice Chairman of Quang Ninh DPC.
There are 38 delegates in the workshop representing provincial government including the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development , the Branch of Forestry Development, the Quang Binh Centre of State Legal Assistance ; Quang Ninh district authorties including People's Committee, People's Council and relevant departments; communal authorities and local people of Truong Son and Truong Xuan commune; and other NGOs and projects in Quang Binh, as well as Towards Transparency (TT).The workshop focused on : Introducing about REDD+ and roles of stakeholders in conducting REDD+; sharing experiences on the participation of the people in monitoring of forest policy; and discussing about solutions to enhance people's participation in REDD + and forest policy.
The opinions of most delegates identified the great importance of community’s participation including authorities and people in implementing REDD Plus. There should have the official decisions, documents or mechanism specified the involvement of the people and the government in REDD Plus Implementation. The people should to be supplied enough information and enhanced supervising skills by suitable methods. The program also has to ensure the livelihood of people living near to forest to ensure the stability and sustainability of the project. REDD + implementation needs the participation and coordination of authorities, people, organizations, and projects to conduct effectively the REDD + program.
