Van Kieu ethnic people were allocated forestland according to the Decision No. 2852 issued by Quang Binh People’s Committee

Within the project “ Supporting for approaching and effectively use of forestland for Van Kieu ethinic pepople in Quang Ninh district”, Quang Ninh Rural Development and Poverty Reduction Fund( RDPR) in collaboration with Forest and Land Allocation Monitoring Board of Quang Ninh district, have implemented many activities to promote the process of land allocation for local people, especially for Van Kieu ethnic people in two mountainous communes as Truong Xuan commune and Truong Son commune. As results, there are some area allocated to local households in these communes.
As for land area managed by Truong Son People’s Committee, 60 out of 66 households in Co Trang village are allocated 110.57 hectares, and the average area is 1.84 ha per household.
Under the Decision No. 2852/QD-UBND issued by Quang Binh People’s Committee, dated 30th November 2013, 2,112.37 ha of forestland area recoverd from  Long Dai Co,. one-member Ltm is allocated to Truong Son People’s Committee. However, about 414 ha of the area is suitable for production, allocated to 113 households in Khe Cat village, Trung Son village, and Chan Trong village. The other is too far from residential areas, poor-quality and sloping.
At the present, these households are conducting vegetation treatment. It is expected in late September 2013 to star afforestation, RDPR will also support partly the reforestation expenditure for local households.
