This model is relatively new and in line with reality, and local soil conditions, makes use of sloping and infertile land to plant some crops. This not only improves land but also produces commodity and increases income for farmers.
Turmeric planting model with the scale 1.600m2 was conducted at 7 households in Khe Ngang, Hang Chuon, Truong Nam, the turmeric breed bulb is 210 kg. At harvest, the survival rate of the turmeric was 100%. The production reaches 2,500 kg turmeric bulb, their worth is 37, 7 million VND. Average household income is 5, 3 million VND, excluding costs, profit is 4 million VND.
Dwarf banana planting model is conducted in 13 households of Lam Ninh village. At harvest, average household income is 600.000 VND. In particular, Mr Ho Hon’s family earns more than 2 million dong. He said that planting dwarf banana was very easy. He could understand the technique at the first instruction time of project officer and banana fruit product is easy to consume. At harvest, trades make buying at his garden, average price from 30.000 VND to 50.000 VND per bunch. Realizing the remarkable interest from dwarf banana planting, he invested to expand banana cultivation by breeding at his own garden. Many households have also learned him and plant dwarf banana in their garden. Up to now, almost of Lam Ninh households have known how to plant and make breed to supple for commune people.
Hang Chuon and Truong Nam Village mainly include hilly limestone infertile land. RDPR supported 9 households in planting 90 cassava roots. As a result, average household yield is 50 – 70 kg bulbs (equivalent to 5-15 kg of starch), average household income is from 750.000 to 1, 8 million VND. In fact, the households using emerging planting method (i.e covering 50 cm high mounds for planting) have higher yield.
Mr Pham Mau Tai- Director RDPR said that in implementing process, the households were supported breeds, fertilizer and technical planting training.  After 1 year of implementation, the households applied technical process correctly and took care hard, so all models are quite well developed.
According to the evaluation, the models are implemented as planted and achieved remarkable success, contributing to improving life of Van Kieu ethnic minorities.
